Satellite programs are often defined by long development cycles and fixed platform architectures. This can make it difficult to respond to changing mission requirements or integrate specialized payloads without compromise. Reflex Aerospace works on satellite platforms that are developed in direct relation to the intended mission and its technical needs. The focus lies on configuring systems in a way that supports payload performance and integration from the beginning. This approach allows satellite designs to be adapted to specific operational scenarios, whether in Earth observation, communications, or security-related applications. It reflects a broader shift toward more flexible and responsive space systems.
Technology and Product
Each satellite mission introduces its own set of technical constraints, ranging from payload interfaces to structural requirements. Reflex Aerospace develops platforms for low Earth orbit that are configured based on these parameters. The systems support different payload types, including optical instruments, radar sensors, and communication equipment. Production is organized through flexible manufacturing processes that allow adjustments without relying on a single standard design. Additive manufacturing and digital design tools are used to adapt structures and components to mission requirements. The MicroFactory concept supports distributed production and system integration, supporting shorter development cycles and greater adaptability in satellite manufacturing.

Industrial Fit and Applications
Mission requirements in Earth observation, communications, and defence often differ in terms of payload design, operational constraints, and deployment timelines. Satellite platforms that can be configured accordingly allow closer alignment with mission requirements. Reflex Aerospace’s systems are suited to applications such as high-resolution imaging, radar-based observation, and secure communication and are intended for use in constellation deployments where consistency and adaptability are both required. This approach can support missions that depend on specific configurations without relying on predefined platform constraints.

Founding Team
Reflex Aerospace was founded in 2021 by Walter Ballheimer (CEO) and Alexander Genzel (COO). Ballheimer previously worked at German Orbital Systems, while Genzel brings experience from both the military and the space sector. The team is driven by a mission to redefine how satellites are built and delivered, enabling faster access to space.
