Many industries continue to depend on manual work for operational tasks that are repetitive, time-consuming, and difficult to scale, such as device testing and inventory verification. Founded by a team of engineers with roots in university robotics competitions, Adapta Robotics develops adaptable robotic systems to automate hard-to-serve processes, delivering complete solutions that integrate hardware, software, and computer vision, tailored to specific operational needs. Its focus lies in areas where the demand for automation is clear, and standardized approaches fall short. By targeting narrowly defined yet widely repeated tasks, Adapta aims to close practical gaps between human labour and industrial robotics.
Technology and Product
At the core of Adapta’s portfolio is the MATT family of robots, engineered to perform precise physical interactions such as pressing buttons, interacting with touchscreens, and executing device tests that replicate human behaviour. Using AI-driven computer vision and context awareness, the robot can recognize visual elements, respond to interface events, and execute realistic user interaction flows, enabling continuous and repeatable testing even as devices, interfaces, and software evolve. In parallel, Adapta develops ERIS Robot (Effective Retail Intelligent Scanner) and SIDD (Stock Identification and Detection Device), solutions focused on automating inventory-related tasks in retail and warehouse environments.
ERIS’ hardware vision modules, computer vision models & AI algorithms allow monitoring of in-store shelves, price and promotion discrepancy detection, and identification of out-of-stock situations, while SIDD is a camera-based inventory tracking system that provides visibility into SKU status, movement, and shelf-time across storage and backroom operations.

Industrial Fit and Applications
Adapta introduces automation and automated solutions -related to processes being handled manually- where existing technology, be it software or hardware, falls short and struggles to keep pace with evolving requirements and variability. MATT, the device testing robot, is deployed across sectors such as consumer electronics, device refurbishment and secondary market, automotive (including in-vehicle infotainment and dashboard systems), aerospace, medical technology, gaming, smart home appliances, and more. In testing environments, MATT enables continuous operation, improved consistency, and full coverage of device functionality while reducing reliance on repetitive manual labour. In parallel, ERIS addresses inventory visibility and retail compliance challenges while SIDD supports warehouses, storage facilities, and backroom operations by providing precise, near real-time tracking of inventory movement and shelf-time metrics, helping teams optimize workflows and reduce delays.

Founding Team
The company traces its roots to a group of three engineers — Mihai Craciunescu, Diana Baicu, and Cristian Dobre — who began collaborating as a university robotics team. Their early success in international competitions laid the groundwork for Adapta Robotics. Over time, the team expanded its technical capabilities from competition projects into commercial robotic offerings that address practical automation challenges across industries, globally.
